After our quiz today, we'll take up the topic of how to work within the political system to get legislation passed. This material draws heavily from Dr. Bogenschneider's book. I've also compiled some links about the "art of compromise" in trying to get bills passed.

I agree with Nan Rich's bill attempt to pass a bill by limiting the scope and partially repealing the gay adoption ban. I do not agree in anyway with the ban and would like to see more than just a partial repeal, but it seems to be the best strategy in place where republicans have a 3-2 favor.

I agree with Leah. According to some of our readings, there is no research suggesting poorer outcomes for children raised by parents of the same sex, versus having a mother and father. I think a partial repeal is better than no repeal at all, and could be an important step for future legislation.
